Sim Work Sample #101 Small Parts Production Assembly

Simwork Systems is please to announce the release of the first in our work sample series. This simulated work sample provides the work evaluator and therapist with an exceptional tool for assessing the physical work traits of forward reach, handling, fingering, feeling and seeing as well as the functional abilities of manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, visualization, control precision, wrist-finger speed and speed of limb movement as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor O*NET Dictionary of Occupational Titles listing as Assemblers and Fabricators #93956 and detailed in the Occupational Outlook Handbook under Assemblers; Production Occupations; Handlers, Equipment Cleaners, Helpers, and Laborers; Automotive Mechanics; Bindery Workers/Assemblers, and in the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) under the general sub-group of Other Assemblers,#9498.1 occupational title, Metal Products Assembler. Preliminary Test-Retest Reliability studies reveal exceptional consistency for same day and extended interval administration.

Sim Work Sample #101 includes all the reusable parts, carrying case and computer interface start-stop button to provide many administration for years to come. The evaluator provides any computer with dual monitor capability and Windows™ XP or 7 operating system and a monitor for evaluee instruction (see system requirements). Set-up and storage takes only a couple of minutes to complete.

This work sample activity requires the evaluee to construct 50 four part assemblies using a tethered battery operated nut driver/wrench using an assembly jig typical of small production jobs in industry. The activity is long enough to provide the evaluator with sustained observation of the evaluee’s work behavior, consistency and work method. It is also useful for career exploration with younger evaluees providing a realistic work environment for the inexperienced worker. Because of the sustained repetitive moves required with this activity, it is useful for therapy tracking when upper extremity rehabilitation is involved. Likewise, it has been useful for cognitive training/retraining because of the continuous focus required when performing this work sample.

Sim Work #101 includes: Carrying/storage case, Sim Work Samples Start/Stop Button, 10 sample and 50 test T-Slot assembly blocks, 100 cap screws, 100 Assembly nuts, 100 assembly washers, storage bin, 2 parts bins, work sample work base, tool balancer post and arm, tool balancer, battery operated nut driver/wrench with 2 batteries, charger and case and Sim Work Sample English language administration program pre-loaded on a USB drive (Optional Spanish administration language program available-please contact Simwork Systems for current pricing. Other language administration options available).
