Our mission

The ever-changing health care and workers' compensation market and the introduction of ADA have made it difficult, at best, for employers to do what is right and necessary. Simwork System's experience in these areas, and the far-reaching vision of the ERGOS® Work Simulator, ERGOS® Sapphire™ Work Assessment Systems and other products help provide a level playing field for employers and workers, creating a true partnership for return-to-work programs. It is Simwork Systems’ mission to provide the best human performance assessment tools possible. Simwork Systems is not in the business of selling a FCE method or philosophy. Instead, we provide the best tools possible to objectively measure the evaluee’s work capacity.

What we provide

Simwork computer-interactive products provide unique features often copied, but never fully reproduced. Our pioneering designs document the functional ability of the evaluee in detail reports documenting work performance using real-time recordings, criterion based MTM comparison of specific work function and consistency of effort through coefficient of variation (CV) calculation. Since 1986, the principals at Simwork Systems have provided unique job-specific work capacity testing tools that directly compare the evaluee to over 21,000 job standards defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. Likewise, we are able to compare the evaluee’s work performance to specific jobs analyzed using the U.S. Department of Labor’s The Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs. Simwork Systems also provides exclusive use and training on the ADA Management System (ADAMS), the first human factors job analysis system designed for use under American's with Disability Act (ADA).

How we are different

Other FCE vendors believe that their methods which utilize low cost common therapy equipment, such as treadmills, a box of bricks and a stop watch, produce objective, accurate and defendable results. These systems are far from being as truly objective as they claim since a small or unintentional error in the evaluator’s measurement will lead to the difference between a court defendable evaluation and a successful lawsuit dismissing the evaluator’s conclusions. To mitigate this potential loss, these methods often rely upon hedging and giving the evaluee being tested “the benefit of the doubt” rather than producing a truly accurate and objective measure of their functional ability. In addition, the potential for the evaluator to be heavily influenced by a properly coached evaluee makes these manual systems significantly unreliable. This hedging and manipulation of the testing method can result in inequitable decisions.

History

Simwork Systems founders designed the first networked computerized functional capacity work simulator in the world. The system was called the ERGOS® Work Simulator by Work Recovery, Inc.. At a time when audio/video DOS computer gameing was in its infancy we created a state of the art 6-computer networked system that presented audio/visual standardized instructions to evaluees in several languages for the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

In 1999, when Work Recovery, Inc. ceased operations in the United States, Simwork Systems was created in cooperation with Work Recovery Europa bv, (WRE) Eindhoven, Holland, a former key consultant for Work Recovery Inc. (WRI). Simwork Systems continues to manufacture the ERGOS® successor, the ERGOS II. Simwork Systems also has the ERGOS® Sapphire™ Work Assessment System; a smaller footprint assessment system designed for efficient pre-employment and post-offer testing, as well as the traditional FCE/WCE testing. The combined experience of the founders of Simwork Systems has resulted in innovative and unique human performance testing methods are not found anywhere else in the world.
