ERGOS Work Simulator

Panel #1 - Static & Dynamic Strength Measurement Component

Measurement Factors

  • Lifting -- industrial knuckle, bench, shoulder and ankle height

  • Pushing Pulling -- industrial card and shoulder height

  • Trunk Rotation -- industrial feeding and off-bearing materials handling

  • Maximum Safe Lifting Limits -- NIOSH guidelines

  • Average Lifting Frequency -- Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) (occasional, frequent, constant)

  • Lift Origin and Destination -- ascending and descending lift velocity (miometric/pliometric)

  • Identification of Recovery Range -- integrates static and dynamic strength data

The ERGOS® Panel #1 static and dynamic measurement component is the most comprehensive, reproducible and valid assessment of strength as it relates to effective work therapy and return to work.

Static Strength Testing

ERGOS® static strength testing provides unique measurement of left side/right side body strength, while working through a three-trial protocol that measures maximum voluntary effort, sustained effort, and pounds of effort simultaneously. The eight-position, three-trial protocol provides therapists immediate feedback to compare against Department of Labor DOT standards and National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH) guidelines. Color graphs of each position provide strength curves detailing left side, right side, left/right average, and overall average.

Dynamic Strength Testing

Dynamic strength features an industrially designed lifting box using real weight from 10 to 120 pounds. Detailed velocity curves identify ascending (miometric) movement and descending (pliometric) movement from floor to industrial bench and shelf height. Integrated static and dynamic software establishes accurate differences between the two testing procedures, which then indicate the probable recovery range for workers. Work therapy (conditioning and hardening) can then be targeted to real job expectations through strengthening and education.

Work Therapy

ERGOS® features the unique ability to provide both functional capacity testing and work hardening/work conditioning. The therapist-controlled procedure establishes work routines, monitored and controlled through computer instructions, to establish self-paces or job-paced (Dictionary of Occupational Titles -- DOT -- occasional, frequent, constant) regimens. Objective scoring enables a referral source to monitor progress toward full recovery and return to work.
