ERGOS Work Simulator
Safety and Injury Prevention Model
ERGOS®
Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance
The ERGOS® Work Simulator, in conjunction
with an essential job functions analysis, provides job-specific, non-discriminatory
post-offer of employment evaluations. In situations where an accommodation is
necessitated by a disability, the ERGOS® may also be used to test
the appropriateness of the potential job site modification or the alternate
job functions.
Pre-Employment
Screening
and
Post-Offer Screening
For employers not covered under the Americans with
Disabilities Act, but still in need of pre-employment physical capacities and
agilities testing, the ERGOS® Work Simulator provides the basis for
safely matching workers to jobs. The ERGOS® master station has the
capacity to match worker capabilities to the 12,741 job titles classified
by the U.S. Department of Labor in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles
or to the specific and unique demands of the employer.
ERGOS®
Fitness-for-Duty Evaluations
In order to achieve cost effectiveness and workplace
safety, the ERGOS® Work Simulator is used on a periodic basis to
assess employee fitness-for-duty. The ability to identify the potential for
injury before it happens allows the employer the ability to achieve improved
worker safety and morale, as well as the benefits of increased productivity
through better job-matching and decreased disability-related expenses. The relatively
inexpensive cost of a jobsite modification or a shift in job functions will
result in employer savings.

Early Intervention /Return-to-Work Model
ERGOS®
Baseline
Employers possessing a pre-injury baseline of worker
physical capabilities matched to the specific job demands are able to reduce
potential expenses in workers' compensation insurance claims by providing the
ERGOS® baseline to the treating physician. The job-matched baseline
allows the physician and the employer the opportunity to effect cost-reducing
early intervention protocols for a return-to-work.
ERGOS®
Tracking
Once an injury has occurred, physicians have used
the ERGOS® Work Simulator to track the progress and appropriateness
of therapy modalities. The ability to direct therapy professionals in the use
of targeted modalities for an early return-to-work has resulted in the reduction
of disability-related expenses (i.e., temporary disability, protracted medical
care).
ERGOS®
Early Return-to-Work
The ERGOS®'s ability to match the injured
worker to the job demands of the employer enables an expedient, safe return
to work. The ERGOS® outline of physical performance capacities also
enables the health professional and the employer to consider alternate or modified
job duties matched to the worker's current capabilities.
ERGOS®
Work Conditioning
The effects of de-conditioning through a lengthy
medical recovery are more often the cause of extended periods of a worker's
temporary disability than the effects of the injury. The ERGOS® Work
Conditioning Program allows for the customization in design and exact tracking
of worker progress by the medical and therapy professional. ERGOS®
Work Conditioning is also used in conjunction with a limited-duty return
to work in order to safely assimilate the worker back to the jobsite.
ERGOS®
Vocational Rehabilitation Model
ERGOS®
Vocational Capacities Evaluation
The ERGOS® Work Simulator provides the
vocational rehabilitation expert with the data necessary to match residual functional
capacities to the specific physical requirements criteria of the Dictionary
of Occupational Titles, the main reference source employed in this type
of practice. The ERGOS® evaluation also allows the vocational rehabilitation
counselor and the injured client to expedite job exploration activities to physically
appropriate occupations, a tremendous cost savings factor for the employer and/or
insurance carrier.
ERGOS®
Modified/ Alternate Functions Evaluation
Prior to the costly, and sometimes inappropriate
expenditure of resources on vocational rehabilitation services, the ERGOS®
Work Simulator provides the date-of-injury employer, the insurance carrier,
the vocational rehabilitation counselor and the employee a means to determine
if a modified jobsite or alternate work functions may be safely performed. The
employer and the employee both benefit in the safe return of the skilled worker.
ERGOS®
Job Placement Evaluation
The most frequent concern of potential employers
and vocational rehabilitation clients is whether or not the job can be accomplished
when the worker's abilities may be impaired. The ERGOS® job placement
evaluation, combined with an appropriate essential functions job analysis, provides
the means to determine whether or not the job tasks can be safely performed.
The degree of certainty provided by this evaluation enables the vocational rehabilitation
professional, the prospective employer and the injured client to establish a
positive and cost-effective working relationship.
